There is no doubt that typography is an important element of an essay. As the author said, the old adage that 'you can’t judge a book by its cover' may have been accurate a hundred years ago, when books had plainer covers. But it’s not accurate today.” Now we found that all kinds of information bomb in our life, so a good typography can help author to abstract more audience’s attention and help audience to acquire information quickly and easily.
Comparing to our life, I found that there is a tight connection between packaging and typography because it can make good increase the goods’ value immediately. We use the visual aids to make work perfect. And with the development of technology, the quality of goods are improving and getting more and more delicate.
In my opinion, readability and legibility are both important elements of typography. The two terms that may seem interchangeable, but they refer to different, albeit connected, functions of type each with its own strength in communication.

Response to TED & Infographic

According to the infographic, we can see that core value of this speech
and gather the main points. I think this video lecture is more dynamic than the infographic because it contains many interesting plot to grab people’s attention. As for the infographic, it has many words so that it’s kind of boring for me. In addition, the video lecture can be more impressive and memorable by using more visual aids to keep audience focused, such as the Power Point, extra video and so on. However, inforgraphic still has some many advantages. For examples, audience needs to spend 20 minutes to watch this video but only needs 3 minutes to look the inforgraphic. And audience also acquires information systematically and correctly because it is not easy to capture all the information during a video. Sometimes audience might pay more attention to the joke but not the important information.

As for me, I prefer video lecture than infographic because I enjoy
someone telling something to me. There is no doubt the video speech is much easier for me to memory and follow it. I enjoy presenter’s joke and relevant videos. Most of time the presenter will analyze it by examples so that audience can comprehend it easily. But when I want to save my time and capture information directly, the infographic  is a good choice for me.

Therefore, the video lecture is much more enjoyable experience for me because the presenter use his talent speaking skills to demonstrate his point that capturing a truth from your experiencing it to express your value in a story. Maybe that’s the reason why the TED is famous all over the world.

Books Make a Difference in Kids Lives----The Haves and Have Nots

1) Outline the infographic essay
Introduction: It is the reason why income inequality happens in two different groups that live in lower income community or upper-middle income community.
Body: a. Children who live in lower income community read 1 book per years, but children who live in an upper- middle income community read 13 books per year.
b. According to the investigation, the education of children who live in lower income community are much higher than children who live in upper- middle income community.
c. It suggests that the people who have higher degree earn more money in average.
Conclusion: If you are in the upper-middle income community, it’s necessary to donate money to books to your child.

2) Provide the Rhetorical Situation of this essay
Purpose: The purpose of this essay is to explain the reason why the education of children who live in lower income community are much higher than children who live in upper- middle income community, to suggest parents who live in upper-middle income community to buy more books to their children.
Audience: The parents in upper-middle income community.
          Stance: neutral and objective
          Genre: creative nonfiction
Media/design: Online. Text and pictures. The design is clear and easy to understand.

3) While you are only outlining the essay--not writing it word-for-word--you can still get a feeling for what this essay would look like. How is the infographic different from the traditional essay you outlined?
The infographic is much more direct and clear than the word-for word essay. When audience sees the graph or the pictures, it conveys a stronger visual aids and delivery messages quickly. For example, if audience takes 5 minutes to read an essay, maybe he only needs 30 seconds to read the infographic. It’s a good to save time to convey the data. What’s more, it is much more specific and concise because it only picks up the main point.

4) Strengths and weaknesses of the infographic: what does the infographic do better than the essay? What does the essay do better than the infographic?
Strengths: The infographic is interesting, creative, clear and direct. Author can use the bright color to highlight the main points and make it easy to follow. In addition, the infographic will save more time because the pictures are much easier to understand than the traditional essay.
Weaknesses: The traditional essay is more serious, official and logical that the infograpic. Because of the word limitation, the infographic only shows the mains points of investigation. In that case, audience will ignore the process of doing this research even though it is an important part of investigation.

5) How does the qualify as an essay and not a series of pictures?
There is no doubt that an essay has a specific theme and the story is developed surrounding the theme. However, each part of infographic is tightly connected with the theme and other parts. Pictures is talking about the static moment, but infographic is much more vivid and meaningful than the pictures, it narratives the story or data.
For example, I believe that parents who live upper-middle income community will spend more money on buying books to their children after they read this infographic. Because the way of infographic develops is as an essay.

Respond to "Searchin'" by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson
The article Searchin, author used the infographic way to support his ideas. He shows his music experience and shares some top hot music. It is certain that infographic way gives a clear image, which helps people to know information directly. However, infographic brings some difficult problems while bring great convenience to readers. Some icons, images should be put at some appropriate position where can attract people’s more attention. Otherwise, it will easily give reader a confusing feeling.I think the use of technology is also the same as infographic.
Although the development of technology brings a lot of convenience to our daily life, I think sometimes it need to see its time and occasions. There is no doubt that the revolution of Web 1.0 to Web 2.0 is necessary. However, sometimes excessive use of technology will also make people repugnant.

This article is quite interesting and tell us how to create more relationship with other people. The author use the way of data and clearly illustrate the some key words to help you find new friends. There is no doubt that everyone wants to be look better and want to be the person who was given high attention by friends. Here are some interesting points I want to mention.
As for the picture, author said we had better keep our photo fresh and give camera eye contract.Personally, I have to admit this suggestion is really beneficial for me. I am accustomed to the way that taking photo do not see the camera. I prefer to bury my mouse or eyes. I think it is unique way to show my personality. Now, it looks like a little stupid. Giving camera a eye contract shows the respect to other people. I will do it this way.

There is no doubt that the development of Punk is a big bang of American history and change the trend of history. Should one immerse himself in the world of punk, this fact is readily presented, with vocalists screaming about society and displaying patches of all different ideals. In my opinion, all the revolution had started with elites and filled with public. There is usually a point that the elite loses control and reached when the trend and media take over, a necessary process if that movement is to become pop. At first, punk was misunderstood because it’s too crazy and noisy when comparing to the other music. With the development of punk music, more and more people are getting familiar with the punk music and enjoy it. Comparing to the Web 2.0 or Social 3.0, I found that the speed of development was very fast because of the collective intelligence.
It's common that people will refuse or resist a new thing because they are pleased with present life, but most of time, the minority will donate experiment and take most of people into new generation. Who is the next “Punk”? I am waiting for it.

Entry 1

With the development of technology, social 3.0 improves the ability of synchronous collaboration and increases the interaction among people. In my opinion, social 3.0 is a good tool for teamwork. For example, I think Google Drive is one product of social 3.0, which gradually becomes the fundamental tool in class. Many people can edit files at the same time so that it’s a good way to save time and become efficiency. When I worked as a leader in a program, I found that I spent a lot of time on delivering the messages, chatting with members and checking the process. There is no doubt that social 3.0 can solve this kind of problem and make more profits. At the same time, it will help the multinational cultural intercommunion and spreading, to make earth become a village. In addition, if social 3.0 mergers with entertainment system and something related to our daily life, it will replace the traditional system and change human’s life style. Technology advances show people a more efficient way to do things, and these processes get results. People use their intelligence to do miracles.
